A Time to SAVOR!

April 12, 2012

American Brewing Company is proud to announce it was chosen to participate in SAVOR.  Billed as the nation’s premier beer and food pairing event, this year’s SAVOR will be held on June 8-9, 2012 at the National Building Museum in Washington D.C.

According to the Brewers Association, a spot at SAVOR can be a brewers ticket to the big time, earning them visibility and – occasionally – a cult following.  160 breweries entered the lottery system and 60 breweries were chosen to pour their beer at the fifth edition of SAVOR.  The selected breweries are evenly distributed among eight geographic regions in the U.S.  In addition to those chosen through the lottery there will be 14 SAVOR supporting or sponsor breweries, all serving their finest beers alongside a fantastic menu designed by Chef Adam Dulye of the Monk’s Kettle in San Francisco and a select group of chefs specializing in beer and food pairings.

“What an incredible opportunity,” says owner Neil Fallon. “We will be one of 74 of the nation’s top independent craft breweries participating in an event where beer and food enthusiasts can interact directly with the brewers or brewery owners. To be pouring our beer alongside some of the finest craft breweries in the country is quite an honor.”

Chef Adam Dulye has worked hard to continue to elevate the food at SAVOR and has crafted some excellent dishes for this year’s event. The menu is designed to not only educate, but also to push the palate of the SAVOR attendees.

The menu pairing for the American Brewing Company will be:

  • Breakaway IPA – Citrus cured salmon, grapefruit, pistachio cream cheese
  • Caboose Oatmeal Stout – Coconut macaroon, whipped crème fraiche, lemon zest

In addition, Mr. Fallon will be arriving a day early to participate in a Government Affairs Hill Climb and then attend an American Craft Beer/Brewers Association Reception on Capitol Hill.   Organized by the Brewers Association, they are planning to capitalize on this collective presence in D.C.  The following is what they have planned:

On Thursday, June 7 there will be a Government Affairs Hill Climb.  Meetings will be arranged for brewery owners to meet with members of their respective congressional delegations.  The focus will be on generating support for the Federal Excise Tax legislation (H.R. 1236/S. 534) along with building the rosters of the House and Senate Small Brewer Caucuses.

This will be followed by a reception on Capitol Hill which is a broader effort by the Brewers Association to raise the profile of small brewers among Members of Congress and their staff. “I think there is a great deal of value in personally engaging with these officials,” says Mr. Fallon.  He will also be pouring American Brewing Company’s beer at this event which typically has an attendance of around 700-800 people.
