Kissing the Blarney Stone

Well Kiss me Blarney Stone…or so they say!  But do you know WHY they kiss it?

It seems that 300,000 people each year visit the castle Blarney in Irelalnd.  But the actual Blarney Stone is in a difficult to reach place.  In past times, to kiss the stone people were hung by their heels over the edge of the parapet….hm, does anyone see where this is going?  Besides down of course!

Now it’s so much safer…you sit with your back to the stone while a “friend” sits on your legs or firmly holds your feet (be sure to pick this person VERY carefully). Then…leaning FAR back and down into the abyss (I kid you not), while grasping the iron rails that have been provided (oh, that’s better) you lower yourself until you can pucker up and kiss that Blarney Stone!

Huh.  Supposedly kissing the stone helps one to gain more eloquent speech.  Really?  300,000 people?

Why not just drink several green beers and see how eloquent your speech is then?!

We say (and rather eloquently too)…DRINK MORE BEER!
